New Delhi based consumer electronics firm, Intex has launched a budget smartphone Aqua i5 Mini in India.

Intex Aqua i5 Mini, pegged to be the compact version of Aqua i5, sports 4.5-inch FWVGA display and ships with the 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor Mali, 400 GPU, 1GB RAM, 4GB (expandable up to 32GB), 8.0-megapixel camera (auto-focus & LED flash), 2.0-megapixel camera and a 1500 mAh battery, which can power the smartphone for up to 180 hours under standby time mode. Connectivity features include- dual-SIM slots, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS and USB.
The new Intex phone comes in premium white color with free flip cover for ₹6,850 (MOP) and has been made available in more than 40,000 plus resellers, e-retailers across India.
Priced just under ₹6,900, Aqua i5 Mini has got almost all specifications right to compete neck-and-neck with the popular Motorola budget phone Moto E, but the only downside of the Intex phone is that it runs on the out-dated Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean with no promise of OS update, while the latter ships with the latest Android v4.4.2 KitKat.
Lately, the Indian budget smartphone sector is witnessing surge in handset launches by domestic players like Micromax (Canvas Engage, Unite 2), Lava (X1), Xolo (Q600S), Karbonn, Intex and iBall. The sudden influx of new devices is attributed to the rising popularity of Moto E, which is flying off the shelves like hot cakes. The phone, which was reportedly released twice (14 May and 23 May) this month, got sold on the very same day.
