Intex Aqua 3G Budget Smartphone Launched in India; Price, Specifications Details

New Delhi-based consumer electronics firm Intex has launched budget smartphone Aqua 3G in India.

The new entry level Intex phone sports a 4.0-inch WVGA (800x480p) display and ships with Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, 1.0GHz dual-core processor, 256MB RAM and 512MB memory (expandable up to 32GB).

Priced just under ₹3,600, it boasts two-cameras - a 2.0-megapixel primary camera on the rear side and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) snapper on the front for video chatting - and is backed by a 1400 mAh battery.

"There has been a vast majority of country's users who are migrating to smartphones from feature phones, it has become imperative for the industry to match the needs of tech savvy customers in India," said Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Business Head Mobiles, Intex.

"We at Intex are at the forefront to innovate and offer products which promises the customers seamless functioning and unbeatable browsing experience at a rock bottom price. Aqua 3G is a marvel from Intex basket which will enable users to stay connected with the world all the time," he added.

Intex Aqua 3G has been made available in three variants - black, silver & white - at the company's retails stores, major hyper markets and e-commerce websites for ₹3,550, starting today.

Indian budget smartphone market has been witnessing an intense price war among the domestic brands of late. Earlier in the week, Hyderabad-based Celkon launched India's cheapest Android KitKat OS-powered smartphone Campus A35K for just ₹2,999. Soon, rival company Karbonn Mobile announced a much cheaper Android (v4.2 Jelly Bean) phone A50s for ₹2,790.

In related news, Intex - in collaboration with American software firm Mozilla - has announced an ultra-budget Firefox OS based phone Cloud FX to be launched in August. It is said to be priced under ₹2,000 and feature 3.5-inch screen, 1GHz processor, a 2.0-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and come with dual-SIM slots.
