Biju Menon's Malayalam movie Swarna Kaduva has been scheduled to hit the screens in Kerala on Friday, November 4. The Jos Thomas directorial, scripted by Babu Janardhanan, stars model-turned-anchor Poojitha Menon opposite Biju.
Poojitha, who made her acting debut in the 2012 movie Nee Ko Njaa Cha as Ann Mathews, was also part of few projects. However, many of them went unnoticed for belonging to offbeat movies category. For majority of the Kerala audience, her cameo appearance in Nivin Pauly's blockbuster, movie Ohm Shanthi Oshaana looked like her last project. Nevertheless, she is a familiar face for the audience for anchoring various television and live shows.
The actress, who plays as Biju's wife in Swarna Kaduva, has high expectations from the comedy entertainer, which she believes will help her make a notable mark in the industry. In a short conversation with International Business Times, India, Poojitha speaks on her character and what to expect from Swarna Kaduva.

International Business Times, India: Tell us about your character in Swarna Kaduva?
Poojitha: I play opposite Biju Menon as Deepthi, who is from a middle class Christian family. She is a strong and positive person, who is also a witness of a mystery that the movie deals with. She gets into a lot of troubles and faces challenges, but despite all this, Biju Menon's character marries her with a business motive that she realises only later. How she handles the issues is what my character does in Swarna Kaduva.
IBTimes India: How did you land up in the movie?
Poojitha: I had acted in a movie named Maramkothi, which went unnoticed for being an offbeat project. Chackochan, who was the associate director of the movie, told me about the character in Swarna Kaduva as Biju Menon's wife. I couldn't believe they were casting me for the role and it took time for me to accept it.
IBTimes India: Tell us what to expect from Swarna Kaduva?
Poojitha: It is a proper blend of comedy along with suspense elements and the entire movie revolves around a big mystery, which my character had witnessed. More importantly, Swarna Kaduva conveys an important social message.
IBTimes India: What makes Swarna Kaduva special for you? What are the USPs you found while committing to the project?
Poojitha: Firstly, I completely liked the story of Swarna Kaduva. Secondly, the movie has an ensemble team that comprises of seniors like director Jos Thomas, script writer Babu Janardhanan, Innocent, Biju Menon, who has many recent successful hits in his credit. When I was told about the role, I didn't want to give it a second thought as I was sure that being part of this movie will always be good for me. I knew it would be a great learning experience for me. Though I had acted in few movies after Nee Ko Njaa Cha, most of them didn't work well at the box office, may be because of my bad luck, but I have a lot of expectations from this movie.
IBTimes India: Since the movie has many senior actors, how tough was it working with them?
Poojitha: Initially, I was scared thinking they might scold me if I perform badly. But they were very patient and encouraged me every now and then, giving me more confidence. At times, the director might get irritated when I do not perform well, nevertheless, it was a school for me where I could learn a lot from Biju Menon and Innocent. I worked with them for almost 15-20 days in Thodupuzha and Thrissur.
IBTimes India: What about Iniya?
Poojitha: Iniya is another heroine of Swarna Kaduva and she plays opposite Suresh Krishna in it. She is also a witness to the mystery I mentioned before. We both have equal importance in the movie.
IBTimes India: If you get a chance for modelling, anchoring and acting at the same time, which one would you prefer the most?
Poojitha: Modelling would go as my second preference. I love anchoring. If I get enough time, I will try to do anchoring and acting as well, as the former job won't take much time. Even after acting in movie, I continue my anchoring career as it is very important for me.
IBTimes India: What do you have to tell the audience with you awaiting the release of Swarna Kaduva?
Poojitha: Whatever I have become today is only because of the immense support I have been receiving from the audience. They have been kind to me always. Swarna Kaduva is the movie that I am having high hopes. If I haven't reached the expectation marks of the audience, I request them to give me little more time for improvement. I request everybody to watch it in theatre and is sure to entertain the family audience.
