International Day of Peace is observed all over the world on Monday, 21 September. The theme of this year's peace day is "Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All".
The primary aim of the observing the day this year is to highlight the importance of working together in the society to strive for peace.
The day was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly and the first Peace Day was observed in September 1982.
The theme of the first peace day was the "Right to peace of people".
