Amritsar, Mar 1 (ANI): After 157 years of obscurity, on February 28, historians dug out a well in Amritsar which had the bodies of Indian freedom fighters buried deep in its abyss, allegedly killed by British soldiers during 1857 mutiny. For the past nearly 150 years, the well has been a cemetery for those freedom fighters, who played a great role in the First war of Independence against the British. Hundreds of residents of the nearby areas gathered to pay homage to the freedom fighters who laid down their lives in the war of Independence. Village head, Amarjeet Singh, said that before digging, it was ensured that every religious ritual is followed to pay due respect to the departed souls.
