India will prove to be one of the most powerful countries alongside the US and China under the leadership of newly elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president Nara Chandrababu Naidu in Delhi on Tuesday, May 20.

TDP is a key partner of Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Naidu, the former convener of NDA, praised Modi as a committed leader with "extraordinary capabilities," while addressing the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting and expressed full support to Modi's government.

TDP-BJP combined fought the just concluded elections to the Lok Sabha and the State Assembly. Naidu and Modi, along with Jana Sena founder and actor Pawan Kalyan, campaigned vastly in Andhra Pradesh for the election.

Explaining that India will achieve great development under Modi's leadership, Naidu said that India should compete with the US and China when it comes to development.

He also stressed on the need of cleansing the corruption-filled governance in the country. "People are fed up with Congress, corruption, inefficiency and non-governance. I am confident that under his (Modi) leadership, the country has a bright future," Naidu added.

The TDP exuded confidence that Modi will again become the prime minister in 2019 and will do much more for the nation's development.

While talking to the media, Naidu said that his party is joining the NDA government at the Centre and that TDP allied with BJP keeping in view the nation's welfare.

Common HC for Telangana, Seemandhra

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta has intimated the high court registrar that the present High Court of Andhra Pradesh will function as the common high court of the two new states-Telangana and Seemandhra from 2 June.

Hence all the litigants from Telangana and Seemandhra will have to file their petitions in Hyderabad.
