India is all set to take on Italy in Tuesday's crossover tie for a place in the quarter-final of the ongoing Hockey Women's World Cup in London.

When is the match and how to watch it live

The play-off match at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Center will start at 6 pm local time, 10:30 pm IST and 5 pm GMT.

Star Sports 2 and Star Sports 2 HD will provide live television coverage of the match in India. The live stream will be made available on Hotstar.

What are the chances of India qualifying for the quarter-final

10th-ranked India starts off as the favourites against Italy, the lowest-ranked (17) side, in the World Cup.

Rani's team managed to reach the knockout stage of the ongoing tournament despite not having registered a win in the single-legged round-robin pool stage.

After securing a draw against reigning Olympic champions England, India suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ireland in their second game. However, the reigning Asian champions managed to secure a point in their final group game against the USA and secure a place in the crossovers.

Ireland, as Pool B toppers, clinched a direct quarter-final berth but England and India, who finished second and third, will be battling for the last eight spots in the playoffs.

India's goal-scoring woes

India have scored only two goals so far in the tournament. Poor finishing and lack of decisive attacking intent have been a cause for concern for Sjoerd Marijne's team, so far.

With drag-flicker Gurjit Kaur struggling to find her form, India managed to convert only one of the 13 penalty corners in the group stages. The said goal was also scored by captain Rani, who played a pivotal role in helping India hold the USA to a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

On the other hand, Marijne should be happy with the team's backline as goalkeeper Savita has been on top form between the sticks. With Sunita Lakra, Deep Grace Ekka, Deepika combining well at the back, India have conceded only two goals.

Italy head into the match on the back of a 12-1 thrashing to the Netherlands in their final Pool A tie. The crushing defeat should have dented their morale but the European side had also stunned higher-ranked China (3-0) and South Korea (1-0) to progress through the group stage.

We will go all-out against Italy: Rani

Wary of the Italian side's exploits, Indian captain Rani has said that they will be going all out to secure a place in the quarter-final.

"Italy is a good team and they have enjoyed good wins in this tournament too. But we need to go into the match with the self-belief that we can beat them and we must draw inspiration from that tournament where we beat them in a thrilling shootout," Rani said.

"We need to just focus on ourselves, build on our strength and ensure we use our positive points in the match against Italy. There is no doubt we need to go all-out in this crucial match if we want to see ourselves in the quarter-finals."

India may face Ireland once again in the quarter-final if they manage to get past Italy in today's crucial play-off tie.
