There were reports that Ilayathalapathy Vijay-starrer "Theri" was censored and the Tamil movie had bagged a "U" certificate from the regional censor board. However, the makers have refuted these rumours.

"#Theri censor update : Yet to be certified.. Pls don't believe any rumours .. @Atlee_dir @actorvijay," PR Jagadish Palanisamy clarified on his Twitter account. Apparently, the rumours were created by some websites as an April Fools' Day prank and many people believed it to be true.

The makers submitted the movie to the regional censor board for certification a few days ago, but the board members are yet to view the flick. The buzz is that the censor process will only begin next week.

"Most awaiting #Theri 's censor might b Nxt week Monday r Tuesday. D action packed cop family story s ready for @actorvijay fans (sic)," Journalist Ravishankar tweeted.

The makers of "Theri" are hoping to get clean "U" certificate from the censor board, as it will make the movie eligible for the state government's 30 percent entertainment tax exemption.

Meanwhile, GV Prakash Kumar has a bonus track for the fans of Vijay. He tweeted, "A bonus little song In the last reel of #theri added in bgscore .. Bgscore completed and handed .. #dubtheristep at imp places will shine (sic)."

On the other hand, the theatrical rights of major regions have already been sold. But the Tamil Nadu rights are still with the producer and he is negotiating the price with many parties.

Atlee Kumar-directed "Theri" is billed as an action thriller, in which Vijay has donned multiple avatars. He has paired up with leading heroines like Samantha, who had romanced the actor in the blockbuster "Kaththi," and Amy Jackson. Kalaipuli S Dhanu has produced the flick.
