Mumbai-based consumer electronics firm iBall has launched a new budget smartphone, dubbed Andi 4 IPS Tiger, in India.

The new feature-rich iBall smartphone is priced just under ₹6,300. It sports a 4.0-inch WVGA (480x800p) display and ships with 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 32GB), a 5.0-megapixel camera with LED flash, a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front camera for video chatting and a 1300 mAh battery.

Connectivity features include 3G network support, dual-SM slots, Bluetooth v4.0 (with EDR), Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), EGE/GPRS and A-GPS for navigation.

Going by the specifications and the price tag, Andi 4 Tiger is expected to a give stiff challenge to popular MNC-branded Moto E but the iBall phone falls short in two departments compared to the Motorola phone. The former runs on the out-dated Android v4.2 Jelly Bean and packs just 512MB RAM, whereas the latter features 1GB RAM and ships with the latest v4.4.2 KitKat OS, with a promise of getting one major update in future.

Motorola is shaking up the budget handset business in India, which up until recently was ruled by domestic smartphone vendors like Micromax, Karbonn Mobiles, Lava, Intex, iBall and others.

As of now, iBall Andi 4 IPS Tiger has been made available at e-Bay store for ₹6,299. Besides Moto E, it will also be competing with Micromax Unite 2, MAd A94, Nokia X, Lumia 520, Lava Iris 406Q, Karbonn Titanium S1Plus and several others.

iBall had launched a couple of low-end devices - Andi 4 IPS Gem and IPS Velvet - for ₹5,699 and ₹5,199 respectively earlier this week.

Both devices feature pretty much the same specifications, such as a 4.0-inch WVGA screen, Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, 1.3GHz dual-core CPU, 256MB RAM, 4GB storage space (expandable up to 32GB), a 5.0-megapixel primary camera and a 1300 mAh battery. The only difference between the two is that GEM supports 3G network, whereas Velvet supports only 2G network. [For more information, click here]
