With the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, authorities have put in place an extensive security framework to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the test.

As part of the arrangements, the Indian Air Force (IAF) will reportedly deploy Mi-17 helicopters and other military transport aircraft to facilitate the movement of question paper packets across the country. The papers will be transported from 18 designated locations to distribution and examination centres under strict security protocols.

The enhanced measures come weeks after the original NEET-UG examination was cancelled over allegations of a question paper leak, prompting authorities to tighten security at every stage of the examination process.

Multi-layered security plan

According to reports, military aircraft will be used particularly in areas where rapid transportation is required, reducing the risk associated with moving sensitive examination material over long distances.

Security personnel have also been deployed, while the armed forces remain on standby to provide additional assistance if required.

Authorities have extended security measures beyond transportation. Individuals involved in preparing the question papers are reportedly being kept at a secure, undisclosed location under strict monitoring.

The use of mobile phones, laptops, smartwatches and other communication devices has been prohibited, while movement in and out of the facility has been tightly controlled.

To minimise the possibility of information leaks, different stages of the examination process — including question paper preparation, moderation, translation, printing, packaging, storage and distribution — have been assigned to separate teams. Officials believe this compartmentalised approach will ensure that no individual has access to the entire chain of operations.

NTA releases city intimation slips

Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released exam city intimation slips for candidates appearing in the re-examination.

Students can check their allotted exam city by logging in to the official website using their application number and password.

The NTA clarified that the city intimation slip is not the admit card and only provides information about the location of the examination city. Admit cards will be issued separately at a later stage.

Exam on June 21

The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will be conducted on June 21 from 2 pm to 5.15 pm in pen-and-paper mode.

According to the NTA, the test will be held in 551 cities across India and 14 cities abroad. The agency said efforts have been made to allot candidates their preferred examination cities wherever possible.

Candidates have been advised to regularly check the official NTA website for updates regarding admit cards and other examination-related announcements.
