Huawei P9 Lite with Kirin 650 octa-core SoC launched in Germany; price, specifications

Huawei has launched a new smartphone, called the P9 Lite, in Germany.

As the name indicates, the P9 Lite is a watered-down version of the flagship Huawei P9, which was unveiled along with the P9 Plus just a few days ago in London.

The P9 Lite is identical to the original P9 from the front, right from the placement of a single-grille speaker on the top (centre) and the front camera to the proximity sensor on the left side. But, the similarity ends once we see the device's rear.

The Leica dual-camera set-up which adorns the P9's back is missing in the Huawei P9 Lite, which comes with just a single-lens 13MP camera module with a single-LED flash and no laser focus.

Other key differences between the two is that the P9 Lite comes with less powerful Kirin 650 series octa-core SoC (System-on-Chip) and 3GB RAM, whereas the P9 comes packed with a powerful Kirin 955 octa-core (2.5GHz Cortex-A72 quad-core +1.8GHz Cortex-A53 quad-core) CPU and sumptuous 4GB RAM.

As of now, Huawei P9 Lite (White) can be pre-ordered in Germany on e-commerce site Saturn (HERE) for €299 (around $336/Rs. 22,370) and the shipment of the device is expected to commence next month. Gold and black models of the phone are slated to hit the stores in mid-May, Teltarif reported.

It is expected to be made available in other European regions later this month. However, there is no official word on when Huawei plans to release the P9 series in India. Watch this space for more updates.
