HTC Rolls out HTC 8X, 8S with Windows Phone 8Reuters

Taiwanese firm HTC added two new devices, namely HTC 8X and HTC 8S, to the Indian smartphone on Friday.

The newly launched smartphones are the company's first devices to run on the latest Windows 8 version. The higher-end HTC 8X costs ₹35,023, while HTC 8S is priced lower at ₹19,260. First unveiled in September, the two devices be made available in a variety of colour versions.

"Windows Phone has clearly emerged as one of the top mobile ecosystems and is competitive against any other smartphone platform in the world. We are confident that the iconic design and incredible innovation of the Windows Phone 8X and Windows Phone 8S by HTC will help consumers fully realise the potential and lifestyle benefits offered by these smartphones," said Faisal Siddqui, Country Head of HTC India, according to NDTV Gadgets.

HTC 8X

HTC 8X sports a 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 display and comes in pack with a polycarbonate unibody design. The device is powered by a 1.5GHz S4 processor and packs a rear camera of 8-megapixels with backside-illumination, f/2.0 aperture and ImageSense technology. The 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera supports Skype and high definition video. With Beats Audio technology sports included, HTC 8X has an amplifier for improved audio.

The device comes with a memory of 16GB onboard but there is no option for expandable memory. It also device packs 1GB of RAM and a 1,800 mAh battery. The smartphone will be available in California Blue, Graphite Black, Flame Red and Limelight Yellow colors and packs Windows Phone Store and Xbox Live for entertainment and gaming purposes.

 HTC 8X is viewed as a strong competitor to Nokia Lumia 920.

HTC 8S

This mid-ranged smartphone comes with a 4-inch WVGA display and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. It comes equipped with an auto-focus camera of 5-megapixel and packs a battery of 1,700 mAh. It also has Beats Audio technology but without an audio amplifier. The device will be available in four colours - Fiesta Red, Atlantic Blue, High-Rise Gray and Domino. On the connectivity front, the device features Bluetooth, WIFI and GPS antenna.
