Taiwanese technology major HTC on Thursday unveiled the much anticipated smaller variant of its HTC One smartphone.

Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation, at the launch event said, "We are proud to be behind the market's leading smartphone and now, with the addition of the HTC One mini, the best smartphone family in the world."

"The HTC One mini embodies everything that makes the HTC One a success on a smaller but equally eye-catching scale."  He added.

HTC One Mini sports a 4.3-inch super LCD 3 HD (720p) screen with a pixel density of 341 ppi (pixels per inch) resolution and runs on Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean mobile OS with 1GB DDR2 RAM and 16GB inbuilt memory.

In terms of internal hardware, it packs a 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset paired with Adreno 305 graphics engine powered by a 1800 mAh Li-Polymer battery. Memory wise, the mini flagship handset houses a 1GB DDR2 RAM and 16GB inbuilt memory.

Just like its bigger sibling, HTC One Mini sports a 2.0-ultrapixel camera (equivalent to 4.0-MP) with BSI sensor, F/2.0, dedicated HTC ImageChip 2, smart flash support, 1080p HDR video recording ability. On the front side, it features a 1.6-megapixel camera with BSI sensor, 720p HD video recording.

HTC has confirmed that the new HTC One Mini will be initially released in select markets in August and it is expected to be rolled out globally by September. However, the company is still tight-lipped regarding the price details of the device.
