HTC Marlin aka Nexus phablet (2016) spec-sheet leaked; Tipped to come in two storage variants

Though HTC and Google are tight-lipped on the 2016 Nexus series development, rumours about their vanilla android smartphones are getting stronger with each passing day.

Last week, we saw Android Police citing credible sources revealing the key features of the Nexus 5 2016 (aka Sailfish). Now, the same tipsters have detailed the HTC's 5.5-inch Nexus phablet (aka Marlin), evoking excitement among fans.

The informer claims that HTC Marlin will have similar internal hardware as expected in the Sailfish, but would differ in two key aspects. The former will sport a bigger 5.5-inch screen with QHD (2560x1440p) resolution screen and a massive 3,450mAh battery. On the other hand, HTC Sailfish will have 5.2-inch full HD (1920x1080p) resolution and a 2,770mAh cell. It is believed that this move has been done deliberately in order to market the phones in different price segments like LG and Huawei did with Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, respectively, last year.

Both Sailfish and Marlin are said to have the same cameras (front and back), processor, RAM capacity and also boast fingerprint sensor at the rear. They are expected to come packed with 12MP dual-lens primary camera and an 8MP front snapper, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 (aka 823) or 820 and 4GB RAM.

It has also come to light that HTC Marlin will come in two storage variants — 32GB and 128GB.

There is no word on when the new HTC Sailfish and Marlin will be hit the market, but with the announcement of Android N moniker Nougat on June 30 by Google, rumour mills are buzzing that the devices may get launched in August or at least before the end of September.
