Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC on Tuesday unveiled the mid-range Desire 601 and low-cost Desire 300 smartphones.

Commenting on the launch of the new smartphones, HTC Corporation's CEO Peter Chou said, "For the last 17 years HTC has challenged the mobile industry to develop innovations that change the way in which people use their mobile phone. Now we're not only changing the way people view the mid-range and entry-level market but setting the bar even higher when it comes to our premium devices and capabilities."

Desire 601 flaunts a 4.5-inch qHD display with 540x960p resolution and runs on the Android OS with HTC's custom Sense UI and BlinkFeed. The mid-range device packs a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 series dual-core processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB inbuilt  memory (expandable up to 76GB). It also houses a decent 5.0-megapixel camera with auto-focus, LED flash support to record full HD video from the the rear side and a VGA camcorder to assist in video calling.

On the other hand, the less expensive Desire 300 sports a smaller 4.3-inch screen with 480x800p display resolution. It too runs on the same Android OS with the company's custom UI Sense and BlinkFeed. The smartphone houses Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor which can top a CPU speed close to 1.0GHz and it packs 512MB RAM with 4GB inbuilt memory (expandable upto 64GB).

The company has confirmed that Desire 601 and Desire 300 would be launched early next month in select global markets. However, details regarding their price are still under wraps. HTC also announced that the new colour variant - 'Vivid Blue' of the company's flagship model, HTC One, will be released in specific markets later in Q4.
