American top PC maker, HP (Hewlett Packard) has officially announced the new generation sleek Chromebook and Slatebook PCs.
"Customers have made it clear that they need devices that better adapt to work and play the way they do," said Mike Nash, vice president, Product Management, Consumer Personal Systems, HP.
"Today (1 June), we are announcing the next generation of laptops and two-in-one PCs, along with a new Chromebook that combine power, versatility and design for home and on the go."
The new HP Chromebook looks like a smaller version of the 14.0-inch model which got launched last year, but differs in internal components. It flaunts 11.6-inch display with 11.6-inch LED-backlit display with 1366 x 768p resolutions and runs on the Google's Chrome OS powered by 1.7GHz Samsung Exynos 5250 series dual-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB eMMC (with 100GB Google drive cloud storage).
On the other hand, HP SlateBook sports a 14.0-inch full HD (1920x1080p) WLED backlit touch-screen. Under the hood, it ships with Android v4.3 Jelly Bean, Nvidia Tegra 4 quad-core processor, 2GB DDR3L RAM and also boasts of Beats Audio system.
Both HP Chromebook and Slatebook are slated to hit stores initially in the USA in mid-July for $249 (around ₹14,700) and $399 (around ₹23,600), but there is no word on whether these devices would set foot in other markets.
