The criminal law professor Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) and her five favourite students are getting ready to solve another mysterious murder case in the fourth episode of "How to Get Away with Murder" (HTGAWM).

The official synopsis of "HTGAWM" season 1 episode 3 titled "Smile or Go to Jail" reads, "Annalise helps Paula Murphy (Ana Ortiz), a suburban soccer mom, get released from jail after she was arrested for a misdemeanor, but just as she's about to walk free, she's arrested again by the FBI in connection for felony murder. Annalise and her students are tasked with proving her innocence which will depend on the testimony from another suspect in the case."

In the last episode of ABC's new legal drama, Middleton law students Wes (Alfred Enoch), Michaela, Connor (Jack Falahey), Asher (Matt McGory) and Laurel (Karla Souza) succeeded in their first challenge given to them by Professor Keating. They managed to prove Max St. Vincent (Steven Weber) innocent in his wife's brutal murder case.

But this time defence attorney Keating has set a tougher challenge for her favourite students. They are asked to prove the innocence of young football player Griffin O'Reilly (Lenny Platt), who is the prime suspect in Lila Stangard (Megan West) murder case.

As per the synopsis of "Smile or Go to Jail", "The Middleton University president asks Annalise to represent Griffin O' Reilly, the star quarterback who has also been linked to Lila's disappearance, but she's unable to make a decision until she knows that Sam (Tom Verica) wasn't involved in the case."

Keating is not sure of taking up the case as she tells her sexy detective Nate Leahy (Billy Brown, "The university wants me to represent the football player. I can't give them an answer until I know about Sam," as per the sneak peek video of "Smile or Go to Jail".

Even her husband, Professor Sam does not seem to be convinced about Keating being the defence attorney for the former Middleton law student. "Big case. You ought to be sure before you take it," he says.

However, Keating might handover the Stangard murder case to her most powerful students since the 30-second-long teaser shows Keating telling her students, "This moment, right now. This is when you prove your worth."

Meanwhile, the viewers of "HTGAWM" will get a better picture about the suspects of the controversial twin murders that took place in the pilot episode of the series, because more clues are revealed in the flash forwards and the TV World will discover that someone else was also there besides the students during the night of the murder.

The guest stars to appear in the fourth episode of "HTGAWM" includes Ana Ortiz as Paula Murphy, Tom Verica as Sam Keating, Alysia Reiner as D.A. Wendy Parks and Lenny Platt as Griffin O' Reilly.
