Two losses in a row is something the Denver Broncos would not have envisaged after starting the new NFL season 4-0, but having suffered those setbacks, the defending Super Bowl champions must find a way to get back on course when they host the Houston Texans on Monday.

With the defence, led by the irrepressible Von Miller, playing like a dream and Trevor Siemian performing exceedingly well as Peyton Manning's successor, things were looking smooth for the Broncos after the first four games, before they ran into a brick wall against the Atlanta Falcons and the San Diego Chargers.

Suddenly 4-2 doesn't look that great a record, so a victory over Houston is a must for Denver.

"The last two games for us looked a lot alike unfortunately," Broncos coach Gary Kubiak, who missed the last game due to a migraine, said. "We were very slow starting football games.

"We corrected ourselves. Defensively played well in the second half. Offensively we've been really struggling up front. We've got to play better."

The Broncos defence will be up against a quarterback with a point or two to prove. Brock Osweiler left Denver to sign a lucrative contract with the Houston Texans in the off season, a move which raised quite a few eyebrows in the Mile High City. So, when the quarterback returns to his former home, he can expect a hostile atmosphere.

"They were all great teammates for a number of years, but at the end of the day I'm treating this like a normal game," Osweiler said. "I understand that we have a great, great challenge going into Mile High, playing in that environment, and playing against that good of a football team.

"That's really where my focus is. I have not ill-will towards anybody. I wish that entire team nothing but the best and I have nothing but respect for all of those guys."
