House Of Cards is likely to be back with season 6 next year. It might focus on the future of Doug Stamper, LeAnn Harvey and Catherine Durant.

Although Netflix is yet to renew its popular political drama series, the cast and crew seem to be very optimistic about the future of it. The showrunners, Frank Pugliese and Melissa James Gibson, have already hinted about the possible story for the next instalment.

After watching the shocking cliffhanger of season 5, the fans are eager to know about the political future of Underwoods. But if there is one thing that they are really desperate about, it is the fate of Michael Kelly.

The loyal chief of staff is being investigated over the death of Zoe Barnes and the showrunners revealed that he will have a vital role to play in the upcoming season. "It's pretty hard to imagine the show without him. If [the series] is a triangle, he's the third [person]," stated Gibson while interacting with the representative of TV Line.

Adding on, Pugliese teased, "Doug has been haunted by what he's done [to Rachel], and Frank and Claire take advantage of this and set him up in a way. He still doesn't know what happened to Leann. He still doesn't know how the rest of his so-called confession is going to play out. These are all open questions."

The showrunner has also hinted that House Of Cards season 6 could feature some unexpected plot twists in the Zoe murder case. "I don't think it's completely closed, because there's a doubt in Hammerschmidt [Boris McGiver] that I don't think can go away," he said.

Pugliese has even indicated that the fans will learn more about Catherine Durant and LeAnn Harvey in the next instalment. According to him, the upcoming season will reveal whether cast member Neve Campbell will reprise her role again or not in the show.

"She's injured enough where she can't testify, which was [Frank's] goal. Or she's injured enough that she realizes if she testified something worse could happen to her. But we'll find out how bad off she is [in Season 6]," the showrunner said about Durant.

Meanwhile, House Of Cards season 6 could premiere between the months of May and July next year. Since a new season of the show is always released a bit later than the previous season, the next instalment of the political drama could be aired by the end of July or the beginning of August.
