Honda Cars India Sales Up 88% in August

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has reported an increase of 163 percent in its domestic sales in December 2014 at 14,428 units.

The company had sold 5,493 units in December 2013.

Its small car Brio's sales stood at 1,120 units in December, while Amaze and City sales were 5,176 units and 6,012 units respectively. HCIL also sold 22 units of its sports utility vehicle (SUV) CRV.

Honda's first MPV-offering, Mobilio, recorded a sale of 2018 units in December 2014.

The company exported 620 cars during December 2014, taking the grand total of cars sold to 15,048 units.

HCIL also registered highest ever domestic sales in a calendar year in 2014, with 1, 79,816 units as against the 1, 07,661 units in 2013, an increase of 67 percent.

Sharing the details, Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President - Marketing & Sales, HCIL said: "Year 2014 has been a very successful year for HCIL business with record sales of crossing 1.79 lakh units in the domestic market in a calendar year. 2 successful launches of Honda City and Honda Mobilio coupled with strong demand for all models throughout the year have contributed to 67% growth in HCIL sales in 2014. Honda's fast expanding dealer network in Tier III markets has further contributed to this sales growth."

In 2015, Honda is expected to bring back its new jazz to India with an attractive price tag. The new jazz will come in both petrol and diesel engine options. Under the hood, the petrol Jazz is likely to pack the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that powers Amaze and Brio, which can generate a power of 87bhp, with a torque of 110Nm at 4,800rpm, and the diesel Jazz is expected to draw power from a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor that can pump 100PS of power and 200Nm torque.
