Riding high on the success of City and Amaze in the country, Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) has reported a growth of 17.8 percent in its domestic sales for the month of May.

The company sold 13,362 units in May 2014, as against the 11,342 units in May 2013. Besides this, a total of 518 units have also been exported in May.

Honda's small car Brio registered a sale of 1,333 in May 2014, while the company's family car Amaze's sales figure stood at 4,752 units.

In April, Honda sold 578 units of its small car Brio, while its Amaze registered 3554 units. The company's successful City posted good sales for the Month of May, selling a total of 7,218 units. Last month, the company had sold 7,044 units.

"We are thankful to our customers for the continued support we have been receiving for the Amaze and all new City and are confident that we will continue to do well in respective segments," said Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President, marketing and sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., as quoted by Carwale.

The company is expected to launch its MPV Mobilio in the domestic market in July. Talking about the launch of Mobilio, Jnaneswar added, "Currently, we are excited about entering into the MPV segment with the upcoming launch of our mid-size stylish seven-seater - the Honda Mobilio. We are hopeful that the Indian consumers will welcome our new offering with open arms."

Recently, the diesel model of the vehicle has been spied testing in the sub-continent market. Mobilio, a Brio hatchback platform will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines in the country. The petrol model of the car will pack 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor, which can churn out a power of 117bhp and the diesel variant will come with 98bhp, 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit, which powers Honda's popular City and Amaze. The engine will come mated to a five-speed manual and CVT gearbox.

Honda Jazz is also expected to reach Indian market in coming months.
