Honda Cars India Sales Up 88% in August

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) recorded a growth of 17 per cent in its domestic sales in January at 18,331 units.

The company had sold 15,714 units in January, last year. Last month, 951 units of Brio was sold across India, while Amaze and City sales were 6709 units and 7671 units, respectively. Honda also sold 58 units of its sports utility vehicle (SUV) CRV.

Honda's first MPV-offering Mobilio recorded a sale of 2942 units in the first month of 2015 and the exports of the company touched 1369 units during the same period, taking the grand total of cars sold in Jaunray 2015 to 19,700 units.

Sharing the joy of achieving a good sales report, Jnaneswar Sen - Sr. Vice President (Marketing & Sales), Honda Cars India Ltd. - said, "January 2015 has been an extremely good month for HCIL. We registered our highest monthly domestic sales of this fiscal contributed by strong sales momentum for all the models. We are extremely thankful to our customers for their faith in us and we are confident of a strong performance through the year."

In 2015, Honda is expected to roll out its much-awaited Jazz in the Indian market. The new jazz will come in both petrol and diesel engine options. Under the hood, the petrol Jazz is likely to pack the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that powers Amaze and Brio, which can generate a power of 87bhp with a torque of 110Nm at 4,800rpm. On the other hand, the diesel version will be able to draw power from a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor that can pump 100PS of power and 200Nm torque.
