Honda Cars India is inching closer to the launch of its BR-V SUV. The new SUV debuted in India at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. Ahead of the launch, the Japanese manufacturer had on April 6 launched a digital teaser campaign titled #WhereNextWithBRV. The company also started taking bookings for the SUV recently. Here are the top 10 facts you need to know about the SUV.

- Honda unveiled the BR-V at the 2015 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in August.

- When launched, the BR-V will be India's first seven-seater compact SUV.

- Honda BR-V is based on the same platform that underpins the Brio hatchback and the Mobilio MPV of the company.

- Honda BR-V will be powered by 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engines, both mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The former will produce 117bhp and 145Nm, while the latter will develop 99bhp and 200Nm.

- Honda claims the SUV has a class-leading space inside the cabin with additional knee room and head room.

- The BR-V measures 4,453mm in length, 1,735mm in width, and 1,666mm in height, and comes with a wheelbase of 2,655mm.

- The BR-V will come equipped with safety features such as dual SRS airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Hill Start Assist (HAS).

- Honda BR-V will be pitted against Hyundai Creta, Nissan Terrano, Maruti Suzuki S-cross and Renault Duster

- Honda Cars India made it clear that the BR-V would be priced quite aggressively. This suggests a price range between Rs. 8 lakh and Rs. 12 lakh.

- Honda Cars India has already started the production of the SUV at its Tapukara facility in Rajasthan.
