Guwahati, June 26 (ANI): As the world's top soccer teams vie for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, football fever swept through the alleys of a revered shrine in India's northeast where holy men took a break from their spiritual odyssey to indulge in some football banter. Holy men came down from their Himalayan hideouts and hermits across the country for the annual Tantric fertility festival at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati city of Assam. The holy men, in town to perform sacred rituals during the four -day festival, were seen relaxing from the rigors of their spiritual life by playing out a game of soccer on the footsteps of the shrine with hundreds of onlookers cheering them on. One of the holy men, Bablu Mukherjee, who came to perform rituals at the temple, said they are excited to watch the World Cup on television. Crowd of devotees jammed at the temple premises to see the holy men balancing the ball.
