Made on a budget of around ₹40 crore, "Holiday" made a good opening, earning ₹12.08 crore on day 1 and recovered its production cost in the first week itself with a revenue of over ₹68 crore before crossing ₹80-crore mark in just 10 days. "Holiday", which was released on 6 June, overshadowed Kabir Sadanand's comedy drama, "Fugly" starring Jimmy Shergill, Mohit Marwah, Vijender Singh, and Kiara Advani. Sadanand's film earned ₹9.34 crore in the opening weekend, while second weekend collection of "Holiday" was more than ₹19 crore.

A remake of Ilayathalapathy Vijay starrer Tamil film titled, "Thuppakki" released in 2012, "Holiday" was released in over 3,500 screens in India and 400 screens overseas. It is about an army officer, who single-handedly took on terrorists and dismantles their blast plots. He not only defeats the terrorists but also corrupt Indian Army officials in this action thriller.

The film makes the return of Khiladi Kumar in action role after a while. The good collection of "Holiday" will come as a big relief, as his last two releases bombed at the box office.
