Chris Hemsworth is widely known for playing the muscular and powerful god of thunder Thor in movies based on the Marvel comic book character of same name.

However, his look in the upcoming historical thriller "In the heart of the Sea" is definitely going to shock fans, as he has somehow managed to transform himself beyond recognition.

Hemsworth has reportedly dropped significant weight for the movie and looks like the lean and thin Steve Rogers before the Super Soldier serum was injected in him.

Cosmic Book News has reported that all the Asgardian features of Hemsworth are nowhere to be seen as he is shed weight beyond recognition.

Hemsworth recently posted the following image on Twitter stating: "Just tried a new diet/training program called 'Lost At Sea.' Wouldn't recommend it. (sic)"

Even though he is not the mighty Thor who possesses the Mjölnir any more, it shouldn't be forgotten that Hemsworth will be back in "Thor: Ragnarok", which is scheduled to start filming soon. Therefore, it will be interesting to see him get back into the shape to play the Asgardian god.

"In the Heart of the Sea" is scheduled to release on 13 March, 2016. It is directed by Ron Howard. Besides Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), Cillian Murphy (the Dark Knight trilogy), Ben Whishaw (Skyfall, Spectre), Tom Holland (The Impossible), Brendan Gleeson (Braveheart) and Jordi Mollà (Blow) have also joined the cast of the film.

According to the synopsis of the movie, in the winter of 1820, New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story.
