'Have you elected me?': CJP removes Vijeta Dahiya after 'I'm not accountable' remark, viral burger video row

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Tuesday removed its spokesperson, Vijeta Dahiya, after multiple viral videos surfaced showing him during the police crackdown on protesters at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. The party described his conduct as "deeply insensitive" and "unacceptable."

In an official statement, the CJP said Dahiya's actions were inconsistent with the values and principles of the movement and announced that he had been relieved of all spokesperson duties with immediate effect. The party said it took the decision to uphold accountability within the organisation.

The controversy erupted after videos circulated on social media allegedly showed Dahiya at a fast-food outlet during the CJP's 'Sansad Chalo' protest while demonstrators were clashing with police nearby. The footage sparked widespread criticism online, with many questioning his absence from the protest site at a crucial moment.

Responding to the backlash earlier, Dahiya said he had participated in the protest before leaving the site and defended himself, maintaining that he had been part of the movement. He also said he was not an elected representative and therefore was "not accountable" in the political sense, remarks that drew further criticism on social media.

The development comes amid heightened tensions following Monday's violent clashes during the CJP-led 'Sansad Chalo' march over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak, which left several protesters and police personnel injured and intensified the political row over the handling of the demonstrations.
