All eyes were on Indian cricketer and all-rounder Hardik Pandya as the star emerged victorious on Friday night. Pandya smashed a 16-ball half-century and helped India post a massive 231/5 against South Africa in the fifth T20I in Ahmedabad. India went on to register a 30-run win and clinched the five-match series 3–1.

Reacting to his record knock, Hardik Pandya said after collecting his Player of the Match award during the post-match presentation, "No, I actually didn't know about hitting the second-fastest fifty for India until I got out and went back. Our social media guys told me I was the second-fastest. My first reaction was, 'Ah, I missed the top spot!' But I'm happy that Yuvi pa holds that record."
