The time difference within each of the cities would mean the first New Year celebrations will be held in Australia, followed by Dubai before London gets its new year. New York will be the last to celebrate New Year.

It wouldn't really look like New Year's Eve without the annual ball drop in Times Square. The most anticipated televised event will be watched by more than a billion people worldwide, the Times Square Alliance claims. People from over 184 countries will be watching the dazzling lights and bustling energy of Times Square.

The Times Square New Year's Eve celebration will feature star-studded musical performances, balloons, confetti, a colourful pyrotechnic display and more. As the famous New Year's Eve Ball drops from the flagpole atop One Times Square, an estimated one million people will flock to the scene to bid a collective farewell to the departing year and express joy to the coming Year 2015.

At 11:59pm EST, the Ball begins its descent as million of voices will unite to count down the final 60 seconds of 2014.

Sydney, Australia, will be the first major city to welcome the New Year and the city's dazzling fireworks display is among the most iconic and sought after events in the world. Sydney's fireworks and celebrations will start 16 hours ahead of the iconic Ball Drop in New York City.

The celebrations are slated for a 4:30pm start, Australia's NSW time, or 12:30am US EST. The Sydney Fireworks 2015 will be expected to draw about 1.6 million people to the harbour. There will be 11,000 shells, 25,000 shooting comets and 100,000 pyrotechnic effects in the fireworks, adding up to 7 tons of fireworks notes News.com.au.

The 'Light Parade' will feature a massive amount of boats while the Bridge Effect features 16 kilometers of rope light and 4 kilometers of electric cable held by 10,000 cable items, a massive show of dazzling lights and colours that will attract more than 2 million Aussies by the harbour-side. Over a billion people are expected to tune in to see the magical event, which will also feature live performances by musicians such as folk group Milky Chance, and indie band Temper Trap.

London's spectacular New Year Eve's fireworks display at the London Eye is one of the most famous events around the world. At midnight, the Big Ben's famous "bongs" will ring out, followed by UK's largest annual fireworks display, which is expected to be a spectacular fanfare.

Hundreds of thousands of people will flock the London Eye to see the display. The fireworks can be watched live via the BBC One broadcast.

Another big attraction will be London's famous New Year's Day Parade, which starts at 12 noon on Piccadilly at the junction with Berkeley Street and finishes at 3:30 pm in Parliament Square. Dubai Fireworks; Burj Khalifa LED Display

A stunning fireworks display and laser show has been planned for Downtown Dubai on New Year's Eve. The spectacular light show is expected to be covered in a six-part firework display, while LED screens wrapped around the Burj Khalifa will create one of the most eye-twinkling illuminations ever seen.

Visitors can watch the show from various vantage points in Burj Park and Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard. The entire event will be streaming live on the official YouTube channel.
