The staffers of a hospital are often seen instructing the visitors to maintain silence inside the premises or lashing out at those violating The Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000.

However, the staffers of Sola Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, violated the norms by playing garba inside an intensive care unit (ICU) while it was full of patients.

According to the Noise Pollution norms, hospitals are considered silence zone where noise pollution is prohibited inside as well as up to 100 meters around the premises. The hospital staff violated norms inside an ICU, which is meant for patients with severe and life-threatening illnesses and injuries.

They were playing songs in loud volume in the ward where even a mobile phone is prohibited and visitors are allowed only during visiting hours.

The garba was performed after an inaugural function. Hospital's Medical Superintendent HK Bhawsar described the incident as unaccepted and said that notice will be sent to all participants.

"It was an inaugural function wherein no 'Garba' event was planned. Some nurses, servants & patients performed 'Garba' after inauguration was over, we stopped them as soon as we got to know about it," Bhawsar told ANI.

"This shouldn't have happened, sending notices to all who were present," he said.

Meanwhile, the surprised Twitterati have mocked at the hospital authorities for violating the norms and ignoring patients' comfort.
