Govinda justifies wife Sunita Ahuja's extramarital affair claims, reveals Sajid Nadiadwala launched his son; fans call his remarks 'childish'

Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda, known for his comic timing and iconic performances in films such as Hero No. 1, Coolie No. 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Raja Babu, Saajan Chale Sasural, and Dulhe Raja, has earned a lasting place in Hindi cinema.

Lately, Govinda has found himself in the midst of controversy after his wife, Sunita Ahuja, made headlines for revealing that he did not intervene to launch their son Yashvardhan Ahuja's acting career. She described Yashvardhan as a self-made boy who has faced nearly 90 auditions despite his star lineage. She also alleged that Govinda is having an extramarital affair. 

Speaking about his son's journey, Govinda expressed pride in Yashvardhan's talent and potential. He told ANI, "Main Yash ke liye keh raha hun, woh mujhse zyada achha actor niklega. Woh technically mujhse better hai. Toh main umeed karta hun, agar uska prastutikaran kisi ne sahi kiya, toh he'll be huge."

He added, "Mere kehne par Sajid Nadiadwala ne usko cabin diya so that he can learn different aspects of filmmaking." Responding to questions regarding his wife Sunita's claims, he said, "I left politics for my family as I did not want political life to hamper my family life and harm my children." He also emphasised that he prefers not to dwell on personal allegations, stating, "I do not want to discuss this topic further. Even answering it feels disrespectful."

Govinda also spoke about his extramarital affairs and clarified his professional ethics. He said he has always maintained respect for his co-stars throughout his career. Govinds added, "I have worked with four superstars and a Miss Universe heroine. I have never harassed anyone. Ek meri heroine aisa nahi keh sakti ki maine tang kiya ho ya kisi ke liye apshabd keh diya ho. I thank all the artists and heroines. I am grateful to my directors, the songs, and the heroines for the success of my films."

He added, "My mother was a heroine. I never misbehave with any heroines. Now she is taking the name. I have seen it. I don't like such words. Isiliye mai shama maangta hoon meri jo newcomers hai, taki mai chahta hoon sabke saath kaam karu, aur kahin dar na jaaye ki iske saath kaise kaam karna hai ya iske production mein kaam hi nahi karenge. I apologise to my newcomers. I want to work with all of them."

Amid a massive and explosive interview given by Govinda to a news agency, netizens have slammed the actor for taking time to address personal matters and clarify issues regarding his wife. Many believe that he should focus on his work rather than commenting on who is doing what.

A section of ardent Govinda fans has even dubbed his interview childish.

A user wrote, "In this age, he seems to have lost his balance. He's losing respect day by day because of unnecessary drama. What he has done for Indian cinema is truly brilliant, but what he's doing now feels childish."

Govinda and Sunita have been married since 1987 and share two children, Tina and Yashvardhan. Tina debuted in Bollywood in 2015 with Second Hand Husband, while Yashvardhan is preparing for his acting debut.
