"Gotham" season 2 premiere is a just a week away and we are all getting more and more anxious about what we can expect from it. Anticipating just that, we do have some juicy tidbits from the upcoming season - Villains Rising- which will start airing from Monday, 21 September.

Although "Gotham" is set in Batman's city, it is not about the caped superhero yet. Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) is but a child still reeling from the sudden death of his parents. However, in the season 1 finale, we saw him and his loyal caretaker Alfred (Sean Pertwee) stumbling upon what is to become the Batcave, thanks to Lucius Fox (Chis Chalk).

Following the discovery of the Batcave, we can expect Bruce to train harder to become a better fighter. He was already taking lessons from Alfred to become more resistant to pain, and to defend himself in season 1. The young boy regretted that he did nothing to save his parents, and does not want to be in that situation again; but how he progresses from wanting to defend himself to doling out punishments to criminals, is a journey we will get to watch on the Fox series.

Meanwhile, we will also get to see how his dear friend and first crush Selena Kyle (Camren Bicondova) goes on to become the villainous Catwoman. She is a girl from the streets, who really trusts no one other than herself, and she has shown dark tendencies. However, she does have a soft-spot for Batman, and even in the series she is not shown as a full-blown villain, but more as an anti-hero with high moral grounds.

In a city where villains like, Victor Zsasz (Anthony Carrigan), Oswald Cobblepot aka Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), and Edward Nygma aka The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), Joker-esque Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) and Theo Galavan (James Frain) rises, Selena is not a major threat. One thing that is known for sure is that detective Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is going to have a tough time keeping villains of "Gotham" in check in season 2.
