Google teaser reveals Pixel phone series launch dateGoogle via Twitter

For the past few months, we have been hearing a lot about the Google Pixel phone series. Now, the rumoured device is expected to finally break covers early next month.

The search engine giant has released a 30-second teaser video confirming the launch of a phone on 4 October. In the clip, we see a rectangular search tab in a shape that resembles a mobile handset.

The upcoming Google phone series is reportedly made by HTC and unlike last year, the search engine giant is said to have ditched the Nexus moniker. Instead the new series will named Pixel.

Furthermore, despite HTC being the manufacturer, it will not find any space to put its name on them. Instead the phones are said to come with "Google" engraved on the front-top and on the back-center.

Google Pixel series: What we know so far on the upcoming devices

On 4 October, Google is expected to unveil two Pixel series phones -- one, a 5.2-inch screen-based Pixel (codenamed HTC Sailfish) and another, 5.7-inch display-based Pixel XL (codenamed HTC Marlin).

HTC Sailfish reportedly comes with modest hardware such as full HD (1920x1080p) display, Android Nougat 7.1, Snapdragon 820 CPU, 13MP primary camera, 8MP front snapper and a 2,700mAh battery. It will cost $450 (approx. €404/RS. 30,195).

The bigger phablet sibling HTC Marlin is said to boast QHD (2560x1440p) screen, Snapdragon 820 processor, Android N, 13MP shooter on the back, 8MP camera on the front and a 3,450mAh cell. It is expected to set you back by $600 (roughly €538/Rs. 40,260).

Recently, an intriguing report surfaced online suggesting that Google has tweaked the interface and added exclusive software of its own to the Pixel phones. This is unprecedented as Google series phones' main attraction was the clean UI with no bloat-wares. If this really turns out be true, Google phones might lose their edge over other Android phones in the market.
