Google Nexus 6 aka X release date, specifications, price details: what we know so farPlay Store

It's just two days past October, and we are just a few weeks away from Google Nexus 5 reaching its one-year cycle. And going by the number of reports tumbling out of Google's vault, the stage seems set for the arrival of new generation Nexus 6 aka Nexus X.

To help get a better perspective on the rumoured Nexus 6, we have leafed through numerous reports and compiled a set of select features and other details, related to expected release date and price of Google's 2014 marquee smartphone.

Nexus 6 aka Nexus X Display Details:

As per numerous reports, it has been established that LG will not be involved in the making of Nexus 5's successor, instead Google's very own device division Motorola (soon to be acquired by Lenovo) has been chosen as the maker of Nexus 6 smartphone edition.

Last year, Nexus 5 made its debut with a 4.95-inch screen, just 0.25-inch bigger than its predecessor, now rumour has it the upcoming Nexus 6 will be much larger than previously anticipated.

A couple of months ago, it was said that Nexus 6 would sport a 5.2 inch screen but recent reports from 9to5Google has shown that the American company has reportedly upgraded the screen size of Nexus 6 (codenamed Motorola Shamu) to a mammoth 5.92-inch QHD (2560x1440p) display, with a staggering pixel density of 498 ppi (pixels per inch).

The leaked image does give an impression of a giant smartphone but we cannot assess the display resolution of the device. On close look, it looks like an overstretched version of the recently released Moto X (Gen 2.).

There is no word whether the company plans to release the device with stylus like S-Pen for Galaxy Note 4 but if Motorola does release it with a companion e-pen, fans will certainly appreciate it.

Nexus 6 aka Nexus X Processor, RAM, and Storage Details:

In its bid to play level with the rival competitors, Motorola is incorporating 805 series processor which can clock maximum CPU speed close to 2.7GHz.

According to leaked AnTuTu benchmarking results (courtesy, G4Games), the Motorola phone will be aptly backed by sumptuous 3GB RAM, enough to run any high-intensity 3D games with no lag.

Even the sources of 9to5Google too have concurred that it will have Qualcomm's chipset paired with 3GB RAM.

Nexus 6 is expected to be made available in two storage variants, most probably - 32GB and 64GB models. There is no word on whether the phone would house a micro-SD card slot or not, but it would really cheer fans if Nexus 6 does come with the memory expansion option.

The recently launched Motorola Moto G and also the Google's affordable Android One devices (Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V and Spice Dream UNO) too come with microSD card slot, and if this is taken as indication, the prospects of Nexus 6 having expandable memory looks promising.

Nexus 6 aka Nexus X Camera specifications details:

Last year, Nexus 5 came shipped with 8.0-megapixel main camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and HDR +, Full HD video recording, photo sphere with 360-degree view and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. and despite housing photography experience enhancing features, it got panned by critics.

And now credible sources of 9to5Google have claimed Nexus 6 aka Nexus will have major camera specifications upgrade over its predecessor. They said that the upcoming Google phone will house a 13.0-megapixel main camera with 4K video recording ability and a 2.1-megapixel snapper on the front.

There are no other details beyond these hardware specifications. If Motorola incorporates some of the gesture control based features like double wrist-flick camera launch feature we in Moto X series phone and other value-added features like enlarged lens so that camera be able to capture good quality pictures in low- light conditions and other specifications to enrich photography experience, it will greatly appreciated by the Nexus fans.

Nexus 6 aka Nexus X Mobile operating System Details:

Like previous year, Google is most likely release the upcoming Nexus 6 aka Nexus X with new Android L OS out-of-the-box.

Though Google has released the Android L pre-view edition to the programmers, the company is still playing close to it chests, not letting any slip-up in revealing the official name of upcoming new OS update.

However, the recent Tweet by Google team on the 16 birth anniversary of the search engine giant, we get a hint that the new OS might be called as Lollipop, because the graphic cake gif has no candles, instead it has been stacked with Lollipop candies on top. Check it below:

Other prominent ones that are trending on the Internet are - Lemon Tart, Liquorice and Laddu, an Indian sweet.

The final bug-free Android L version is expected to first ship with the Nexus 6 smartphone and later released to other Nexus devices.

Nexus 6 aka Nexus X Release Date details:

If history is taken as any indication, Google is likely to release the Nexus 6 around October –end or early November, allowing the Nexus 5 to one year cycle.

Other rival companies like Apple and Samsung too maintain one year gap between the each iteration of flagship devices.

And if technology blog, Android Authority is to be believed, the search engine giant is expected to unveil the Motorola Nexus 6 and also the rumoured HTC Nexus 9 tablet PC in Mid-October (either 15/16 September) and go on sale on 1 November.

Nexus 6 aka Nexus X Price Details:

All previous Nexus smartphones (and also tablets) have been released with competitive price tags and the new Nexus 6 is also expected to cost less, compared to rival flagship smartphones in the market.

In late August, popular French e-commerce site Fnac inadvertently (or intentionally?) listed the 32GB & 64GB version of the yet-to-be released Motorola X T1100 aka Nexus 6, revealing the price of the device. The page was taken down from the website, after it made headlines in the media.

However, some tech blogs had taken a screenshot of the webpage before it was pulled off.
