The Google Nexus 5 is rumoured to launch on 30 October. Ever since Nexus 5 was leaked in a Google Kit Kat statue unveiling video last month, the interest on the Nexus 4 successor has grown manifold.

After compiling through numerous reports and speculations, here is a list of key specifications most likely to feature in the upcoming Nexus 5.

Display and Design

South Korean firm LG has reportedly used company's flagship G2 design to build the Nexus 5. It is said to sport 5.0-inch full HD display having pixel density of 441 ppi (pixels per inch). Nexus 5 will have onscreen buttons and is most certain that it will not feature any power key or volume controllers on its back-cover as seen on the LG's G2 rear side.

Processor, RAM & Storage

According to leaked benchmark scores, Nexus 5 has reportedly beat top Android smartphones, including Samsung Galaxy S4, in this section. The handset is expected to boast Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series CPU (maximum clock speed of 2.3GHz) and Adreno 330 graphics engine.

It is rumoured to come with 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt memory, a notch up compared to its predecessor, which featured 2GB RAM and 16GB non-expandable memory.

Mobile Operating system

It is almost certain that the upcoming Nexus 5 will run on the latest Kit Kat v4.4 OS. The new operating system is expected to come with a visually refreshing interface and is also said to improve performance by using less RAM as well as cutting down on unnecessary battery usage by apps.

Camera

According to log files of Kit Kat v4.4 uncovered by techblog Myce.Com, Nexus 5 is expected to feature an advanced 8.0-megapixel camera on the rear side with MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical System) technology, which is said to enable new Nexus phone to focus an object (still/moving) 7 times (10 ms) faster than any high-end handsets (usually take 20-25 ms) in the industry. Nexus 5 is expected to feature a 1.2-MP VGA camera as well.

Price

The upcoming handset is rumoured to keep pocket friendly price-tag like its predecessor. A source familiar with Google told Tech Radar that the search engine giant is expected to price the Nexus 5 (unlocked) around £275 (₹27,000), almost half the cost of newly launched Apple iPhone 5S (SIM-free model) in UK.

Launch date

According to AndroidSAS, Nexus 5 will be launched on 30 October. However, it is not known where would the handset be released first.

In 2012, Google had launched Nexus 4 around this time of the year (29 October) which was made available on Google Play online stores in USA, Canada, Australia, UK and few select European markets from November second week. Hence, one can expect the upcoming Nexus 5 to follow suit.
