The last few weeks have seen several reports that the much-anticipated Nexus 5 would get launched on 14 October. Now, a new report has surfaced that Google may release the next generation Nexus smartphone in the last week of October.

Technology blog AndroidSAS has claimed that the LG manufactured Google Nexus 5 might get launched on 30 October. It is not yet known which markets will see the first wave of the phone's release.

In 2012, Nexus 4 was also announced around the same time (29 October, to be precise) and was made available on Google Play store in the US, Canada, Australia, UK and few select European markets from 13 November. If we go by history, one can expect the co-developer, Google to follow the same release plan for the upcoming Nexus phone as well.

Nexus 5 will reportedly flaunt a 5.0-inch (4.97, to be precise) full HD screen having pixel density of 442 ppi (pixels per inch) and will be the first handset to run on the newly unveiled Android v4.4 Kit Kat OS.

Under the hood, it said to pack the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series processor (can clock maximum CPU speed up to 2.3GHz), Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB RAM,16 GB inbuilt memory and a 2,300 mAh battery.

Word on the street is that Nexus 5 would house an advanced 8.0-megapixel camera on the rear side with MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical System) technology which is said to enable the new Nexus phone to focus an object (still/moving) seven times (10 ms) faster than any high-end handsets (usually take 20-25 ms) in the industry. On the front side, it is expected to feature a 1.2-megapixel secondary camera.

On the connectivity front, the smartphone will support 4G/LTE network (in select markets), NFC (Near Filed Communication), GPS, dual Wi-Fi band, and Bluetooth v4.0 with LE (Low Energy) support.

In related news, rumours are rife that Google may also launch the flagship Nexus 10 2 tablet PC along with Nexus 5 later this month.

The second generation Google Nexus 10 is reportedly manufactured by Taiwanese company Asus, not Samsung as previously rumoured. It is said to sport a 10.0- inch 2560x1600p resolution protected by Gorilla Glass 3 shield. Like its smartphone cousin, Nexus tablet is also expected to run on the new v4.4 Kit Kat OS powered by Snapdragon 800 CPU and 2GB RAM.
