The hype around Google's upcoming smartphone, dubbed as Nexus 5 (2015) aka Nexus 5 2nd Generation, is beginning to gain momentum with its release date drawing close. Important details, including features and price of the device have been leaked, though not confirmed.
The search giant is tight-lipped on the upcoming device, forget about revealing its release date and specifications, but several reports have claimed that it will see the light of day in October or November - by the time Motorola Nexus 6 completes a year in the market.
It is reported that Google is back with LG for Nexus 4 (2015) and collaborating with Huawei for Nexus 6 successor.
It is natural for gadget lovers to expect big from Google Nexus 5 (2015) following the stupendous success of the original LG Nexus 5, which was released in 2013. The upcoming Nexus device will have everything that makes a great smartphone if one is to go by leaks that have surfaced so far.
Google could be under pressure following poor sales of Nexus 6, which was criticised for its big screen and huge price. It seems to have learned a big lesson from the current flagship device as it is launching Nexus 5 successor after two years with smaller screen, and probably with an affordable price.
The Nexus 6, which sports a six-inch display, was priced at $649 (₹44,000) for the 32 GB version and $699 (Rs 49,000) for 64GB variant when it was launched, compared to $350 (Rs 28,999) for 16 GB variant of the Nexus 5 (2013) and $400 (Rs 32,999) for the 32 GB model. Google is yet to confirm, but Geek Snack has claimed that the upcoming Nexus 5 (2015) with 5.2-inch display will be priced under $500.
According to reports, the Google Nexus 5 (2015) will sport a 5.2-inch Full HD touchscreen with 1440 x 2560 pixels, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, Android M, 64 GB internal memory, 3 GB RAM, 13 MP main camera, 2 MP front snapper, non-removable 2,300 mAh battery, fingerprint sensor, and Android Pay.
However, Gizmo China reported that the device will come with features like sensor, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C connector, 64 GB internal storage, 4 GB RAM, 3180 mAh non-removable battery, 13 MP main camera and a 4 MP front camera.
