It's back to the 1980 something for fans of the ABC comedy series, "The Goldbergs." The series, inspired by show creator Adam Goldberg's family, chronicles life in the 80s.

If you are wondering what's going to happen in episode 1 titled "Back in Business", well, we can tell you that the premiere pays homage to a Tom Cruise movie.

The synopsis for the first episode hints at Erica (Hayley Orrantia), Barry (Troy Gentile)  and Lainey's plan for a party when her dad is out of town. The party takes place at Lainey's home and is themed around the film, "Risky Businessl." True to his flamboyant personality, Barry shows himself up as the protagonist, Tom Cruise.

However, things get severely out of hand and the teenagers are overwhelmed by the chaos that ensues. At this juncture, it is safe to guess (or rather, assume) that the Goldbergs matriarch, Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey), comes to the rescue.

An ABC report reveals that Lainey warms up to Barry's mom after the incident. However, it remains to be seen if Lainey can handle Beverly's smothering for long.

Showrunner Adam Goldberg hinted that season 3 will capture a young Adam's struggle with puberty, the big 80s hair and several other pop culture references. If there's one major attribute that's missing, it's the homage to Michael Jackson's "Thriller."

Goldberg said: "We were just told by the writer of the song he doesn't want his song to be aired on television. Has he seen movies lately?" reported TV Line.

"The Goldbergs" season 3 releases on Wednesday, 23 September at 8pm on ABC. You can watch the episode online on ABC GO.
