Actor Sanjay Dutt who was supposed to do a cameo in Emraan Hashmi-Vidya Balan movie "Ghanchakkar" will no more be a part of the film.

According to latest reports, the makers of the movie have decided to forgo Sanjay's cameo, considering the current circumstances surrounding the actor. Sanjay was convicted for illegal possession of arms in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts. He was sentenced to five years in prison by the Supreme Court.

Since the actor has already spent 18 months in jail earlier, he will have to spend the remaining three and a half years in jail. The verdict on Sanjay was pronounced on 21 March. He has four weeks time to surrender and will not be able to shoot any films while serving his jail term.

After the SC's verdict, Sanjay Dutt's friends from the industry, several political leaders and Press Council of India chairman Markandey Katju had sought Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan to pardon him based on humanitarian grounds.

However, the actor announced last week that he will not seek pardon and will surrender within the deadline set by the court.

The actor is busy shooting back-to-back films so as to complete the projects that he had agreed to do before his surrender. Sanju baba, as he is fondly called, is involved in multiple projects including Amir Khan's "Peekay", Ram charan Teja's "Zanjeer", "Policegiri", "Munnabhai Chale Dilli", "Chamki Chameli" and "Ghanchakkar".

Earlier, Sanjay had accepted to do a cameo in "Ghanchakkar" on the request of Vidya Balan, his co-star in "Lage Raho Munnabhai". But now, the film's makers have been forced to call off his cameo, a role which he required him to play himself.

"Sanjay has been running against time to complete all his pending projects. He had a cameo in Vidya Balan's next where he was supposed to play himself. The actor had agreed to do the role at his Lage Raho Munnabhai co-star's insistence," a source told Mid-Day.com. "The role was perfect for Sanju baba as he had to just play himself. So no one else can replace him. It's just a cameo while there are other semi-completed projects awaiting his return."

"Ghanchakkar" is a comic thriller movie directed by Rajkumar Gupta. After "Dirty Picture", Emraan and Vidya team up for this movie, in which they play a newly-wed couple.
