Gaurav Khanna reacts to wife Akanksha's divorce announcement on Lock Upp; Shreya makes shocking claim about Akanksha

The TV industry was sent into a state of shock during the premiere of Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, when Gaurav Khanna's wife, actress Akanksha Chamola, dropped the bombshell revelation that she and her husband, actor Gaurav Khanna, are heading for a mutual divorce after staying separated for a year.

However, Gaurav has stayed away from the limelight ever since Akanksha broke the news on the reality show. On Tuesday, Gaurav was part of the Laughter Chefs finale and, during his interaction with the paparazzi, when the media asked him about the divorce, the actor played it safe and said that Akanksha is his wife and that he will always support her.

During an interaction with paparazzi outside the Laughter Chefs set on Tuesday, one of the photographers asked Gaurav Khanna, "Gaurav bhai, kya haal hai?" The actor replied, "Bas yaar, wahi yaar jo pehle tha, wahi haal hai abhi bhi. Pyaar abhi bhi utna hai, support abhi bhi utna hai... Main toh humesha support karunga Akanksha ko, meri biwi hai yaar. Pyaar kiya toh piche kyu hatu? (I am doing the same as I always was, nothing has changed. The love is still the same, and the support is still the same. I will always support Akanksha—she's my wife, after all. If I've loved her, why would I ever step back?)"

When the paparazzo further remarked, "Bhai lekin controversy bahut jyada hogayi hai (But the controversy has become huge)," the actor replied, "All the very best to Akanksha for life. Main humesha uske sath khada hu aur usko support kar raha hu. Vo acha khele aur jeet ke aaye (I will always stand by her. I have always supported her. I wish she would play the game well and wins)."

Now, the couple's close friend, actor Anuj Sachdeva, has commented on the announcement, stating that Gaurav was completely blindsided by the public disclosure.

While talking to journalist Vickey Lalwani, actor Anuj Sachdeva, who is a close friend of Gaurav Khanna, opened up about Akanksha Chamola's divorce announcement on Lock Upp 2.

According to the Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actor, Gaurav was completely unaware that Akanksha would choose a reality show platform to make the status of their marriage public.

Anuj revealed to Lalwani that he did not know Gaurav and Akanksha had not been staying together for the last nine months. "But yes, I spoke to Gaurav after the news got splashed. Gaurav was completely unaware that Akanksha is going to go public about the current status of their marriage in Lock Upp. And yes, I must say that Gaurav is not washing his dirty linen in public," he added.

In the show, Akanksha stated that she wants to enjoy her freedom. Commenting on this, Sachdeva said that it's not like she was caged in wedlock with Gaurav. "Not at all. Gaurav really loved her a lot and gave her all that she wanted. So far, Akanksha had never gone public about this. I wonder if she's doing it to increase the eyeballs on the show," Anuj concluded.

With Anuj's revelations and Gaurav continuing to call Akanksha his wife, netizens are now of the view that Gaurav and Akanksha are faking their divorce and relationship status.

The latest episode of Lock Upp 2 put contestant Akanksha Chamola's personal life back in the spotlight. Days after announcing her separation from actor-husband Gaurav Khanna, fellow contestant Shreya Kalra claimed during a conversation with Sufi Motiwala that Akanksha is bisexual, describing it as her secret on the show.

The exchange took place after Shreya expressed her displeasure over Akanksha filing a chargesheet against her in the game. Saying she wanted to get even, Shreya decided to disclose information that Akanksha had allegedly shared with her privately.

In the episode, Shreya asked Sufi, "Am I going to be a bad person if I reveal it?" Sufi replied, "No, that's the game." Shreya then claimed, "She is bisexual." The camera immediately cut to Akanksha.

Visibly surprised, Sufi responded, "How is she like this then?" He initially suggested they keep the information between themselves, but Shreya refused. Referring to the show's format, she said, "Now the secret has been used. She told me, and we have revealed it on the show. So, two of her lifelines are over, and she has only one left."

Akanksha has not publicly commented on Shreya's claim outside of what was shown in the episode. In fact, Akanksha's secret was her divorce and not her sexual orientation.

The makers of Lock Upp 2 have also not issued any statement on the matter.
