Swansea boss, Garry Monk said that Bafetimbi Gomis wanted to play on, even after collapsing during a match at White Hart Lane.

There were anxious scenes in North London when the Frenchman seemed to lose consciousness just after the home side had opened the scoring in what proved a 3-2 Premier League win for Mauricio Pochettino and his men.

Gomis has a history of fainting, with his previous club Lyon reporting episodes, but Monk said the condition could be managed and Gomis had actually wanted to play on against Spurs. Although the player was sent to hospital for tests.

Hes fine. He was actually fine coming off the pitch, talking and that. He actually wanted to stay on, said Monk at a press conference after the match.

It is something we are well aware of. Its part of his history, but he has had all the checks. We knew that when he came to the club. He had all the medical checks. Its part of his life. Its to do with low blood pressure. I did not see it. Our physios relayed the message, but he came off and he wanted to stay on, but everything was done precautionary.

Im not sure if he actually lost consciousness. Im not sure if hes blacked out there. It perhaps looks worse than it is. When you think about the history at this ground it causes panic.

Hes had it before at previous clubs and we are aware of it. There was concern, but the message straight away was that he was fine. He went to hospital to double check everything, but we are hopeful he will travel back with us.
