The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) suspended the food business licence of Seven Seas Hospitality Private Limited on Wednesday, after an inspection revealed multiple serious food safety, hygiene, and sanitation violations at its premises.
Authorities found poor hygiene and housekeeping in food preparation areas, including water stagnation, foul odour, filth, and unsanitary conditions raising major food safety concerns.
"Licence of FBO Seven Seas Hospitality Private Limited has been suspended with immediate effect due to serious food safety violations identified during inspection," the regulator confirmed.
Inspectors discovered deteriorated food items such as tomatoes, papaya, jaggery, cashew nuts, and capsicum exhibiting fungal growth or decay. Additionally, blackened and degraded cooking oil was found in use.
"Poor hygiene and sanitation conditions were observed, including water stagnation, foul odour, filth and inadequate housekeeping in food preparation areas," the FSSAI statement noted.

Deteriorated food materials were found, including fungal growth on tomatoes, papaya, jaggery and cashew nuts, rotten capsicums and blackened, degraded cooking oil," it added.
Food storage practices were also found lacking, with improper segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, inappropriate meat storage, and condensation dripping on food inside cold storage units.
Infrastructure problems included refrigeration leakage, excess ice accumulation, flaking plaster, poor ventilation, insufficient lighting, and the presence of cockroaches and houseflies.
During enforcement, approximately 74 kg/litres of non-compliant food products were destroyed on-site. The facility scored only 30% in compliance, categorizing it as "Non-compliance."
Following these findings, FSSAI ordered immediate suspension of Seven Seas Hospitality's licence and directed a halt to all food business operations until further notice, aiming to protect public health and enforce food safety standards.
