Several Tamil films of big stars are set to hit screens in the next eight months. While some films have official release dates, a few others have tentative dates/months as to when the films will arrive on theatres.

Kochadaiiyaan

Kochadaiiyaan, directed by Soundarya will be the first big release of summer. Rajinikanth's film, which has been in the making for more than two years, will finally hit the screens on 9 May in six different languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri and Marathi.

Ai

Vikram-Shankar's magnum opus "Ai" is expected to release in June. The film's shooting is almost complete with only a song (introduction song for Amy Jackson) remaining to be shot. The post-production work of the Vikram starrer is  going on simultaneously

The audio launch is likely to be held next month, while the film might hit theatres in June.

Vishwaroopam 2

Kamal Haasan's spy thriller flick "Vishwaroopam 2" is already complete and the post-production work is going on in full swing.

The film, sequel to 2013-release "Vishwaroopam", is expected to release in July. Producer Aascar Ravichandran, who is also producing "Ai", feels that there should be a month-long gap between the release dates of these two big budget entertainers, according to Cinemalead.

It is being said that Ravichandran is planning to bring "Vishwaroopam 2" sometime in July after "Ai" releases.

However, an official announcement on the exact release dates of both "Ai" and "Vishwaroopam 2" are still awaited.

Anjaan

Suriya's "Anjaan" shooting has been wrapped up with only a song pending to be shot. The film, directed by Lingusamy, will be hitting theatres on 15 August for the Independence Day weekend.

The shooting of "Uttama Villain" is progressing at a brisk pace and it is expected to be wrapped up soon. Earlier, there were reports that the comedy drama will be releasing in August, but now the buzz is that the film's makers are eyeing a September release. It is being reported that the Kamal starrer might hit theatres on 10 September, but an official word regarding the release date is still awaited.

Kaththi

Shooting of Vijay's "Kaththi" is progressing at a brisk pace. The film, directed by AR Murugadoss, will be wrapped up in August.

It will be hitting screens for Diwali festival, which will be celebrated on 23 October.

Thala 55

Ajith's "Thala 55" (tentatively titled) went on floors in the second week of April. Directed by Gautham Menon, "Thala 55" is touted to be an action thriller with Ajith reportedly appearing in the role of a cop.

The film's shooting is expected to be completed in a single stretch and it is likely to hit screens sometime in November or December.
