Rajinikanth's meeting with fans and his views on entering politics have been in the spotlight for over a week now. Political pundits and media have been busy predicting his future course of action. Amid all the hype and predictions, the Tamil superstar is set to begin his next movie, which will be directed by Pa Ranjith.

Two decades after his first brush with politics, Rajinikanth had been giving strong hints about entering politics. His wish took a new lease of life following the political uncertainty in Tamil Nadu following the death of the then Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Keeping his cards close to his chest, Rajini has clearly stated that his present focus is on films.

"As of now, god wants me to be an actor, and I am happy with that," Rajinikanth said at the fans' meeting recently. Rajini has completed the shooting of his much-awaited 2.0, which will be out in October this year. The actor will start his next movie, produced by his son-in-law Dhanush, on May 28.

The pre-production work is almost complete and the team is excited to start the filming now. The movie marks the second union of Rajini with Pa Ranjith, after Kabali.

This yet-to-be-titled movie, which stars Huma Qureshi in the female lead role, will keep the sexagenarian actor busy for the next six months. And that means his political plans can start taking shape only in 2018.
