
Ahead of the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra, security forces arrested five persons, including an employee of the Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department, for allegedly operating terror support networks in Kishtwar district of Jammu province and Shopian district of south Kashmir.
Two persons, including a J&K Forest Department employee, were arrested in Kishtwar, while three youths who had been missing since May 31 were apprehended in Shopian with arms, ammunition, and other incriminating material in their possession.
In a major crackdown on anti-national elements, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested key accused involved in providing support to local terrorists in Dachan, Kishtwar, in connection with FIR No. 167/2025 registered at Police Station Kishtwar under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 13, 16, 18, 19, 20, and 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and Sections 7/27 of the Arms Act.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Naresh Singh while sharing details of the case, said that following a meticulous investigation, police arrested Tariq Ahmed Ginoo, son of late Mohammad Shaban and a government employee in the Forest Department, along with Mohammad Iqbal, son of Ghulam Abbas Wani. Both are residents of Tander, Dachan, Kishtwar, and were arrested for their alleged involvement in facilitating terrorist activities.

Earlier, Muneer Ahmed and Mashkoor Ahmed, both residents of Chatroo, were also arrested for similar offences.
The investigation is ongoing to dismantle the entire network, and all those involved will be brought to justice through due legal process.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and terror-support networks.

Three Youths Missing Since May 31 Arrested with Arms and Ammunition in Shopian
Security forces achieved a major breakthrough during a search operation in south Kashmir's Shopian district by arresting three youths who had been missing since May 31.
During the operation, explosives and other incriminating material were recovered from the trio, who are suspected to have links with the proscribed terrorist outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.
Officials said that security forces recovered explosives and posters linked to Hizbul Mujahideen from the three suspects, following which they were immediately arrested. The recovered material included two hand grenades, 2.5 kilograms of PEK (Plastic Explosive Kikri), four mobile phones, and posters associated with the terrorist organisation.
The arrests were made in the Pudusoo area of Shopian district.
The arrested individuals were identified as Aijaz Ahmed Khanday, Arbaaz Ahmed Mir, and Nasir Ahmed Dar, all residents of Begam village in Shopian district.
Police said the three youths had been missing from their homes since May 31.
Given the circumstances of their arrest, police said the possibility of further arrests and recoveries cannot be ruled out. The trio is being interrogated to gather more information about the suspected terrorist module and its recruitment process.
Police also said that the possibility of their links with terrorist handlers across the border cannot be ruled out.
