Those aspiring to buy the iconic muscle car, the Ford Mustang, in India, will have to wait for some more time. The Mustang units allocated for India in the initial phase have already been sold out, with deliveries expected to commence in August, reported The Hindu BusinessLine.

With the aggressive pricing of Rs. 65 lakh, Ford India launched the pony car in India on Tuesday, July 12.

The India-specifications model is available in just a single variant, the GT Fastback. The two-door four-seater sports car belongs to the pony car class of the American automobile brand, with sports-car like coupes with long hoods and short rear decks. The muscle car has been introduced to India with the flagship V8 engine, which American Muscle cars are known for. The 5.0-litre Ti-VCT V8 engine generates 395bhp and 515Nm of torque, mated to six-speed automatic transmission. The Mustang is equipped with paddle shifters, powering the rear axle. The car will offer four driving modes — Normal, Sport+, Track and Snow or Wet.

Unlike the other cars of Ford, the Mustang comes with a history that spans over five decades. The first generation of the Mustang was launched in 1964. It has become a success for its sheer power and straight line stability.

The latest sixth generation was unveiled in December 2013. This is the first time Mustang features independent rear suspension (IRS) system. The new Mustang is also the first version that comes with factory designed right-hand-drive export model.
