Ford India has launched the iconic muscle car, the Mustang in India at Rs 65 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi and Rs 66.5 lakh, ex-showroom, Mumbai. Ford India has opened bookings for the Mustang, while deliveries will take place later this year. The Mustang in India will be sold via CBU line and will be available in a single variant, the GT Fastback.

The two-door four-seater sports car, Mustang belongs to the pony car class of American automobile brand with sports-car like coupes with long hoods and short rear decks.

In India, the pony car is powered by flagship 5.0-litre Ti-VCT V8 engine that generates 395bhp and 515Nm of torque, mated to six-speed automatic transmission. The Mustang is equipped with paddle shifters, powering the rear axle. The car will offer four driving modes – Normal, Sport+, Track and Snow or Wet.

The first generation Mustang was launched in 1964 and the car is currently in its sixth generation, unveiled in December 2013. Apart from the mature design, the sixth generation features a new independent rear suspension (IRS) system. The new Mustang is also the first version that comes with factory designed right-hand-drive export model to be sold in an overseas market.

The Mustang is the only model in Ford's line-up that does not use the blue oval company logo. It instead features a dedicated logo of a horse that denotes compact, quick, agile and sleek looks and performance, according to the company.
