Ford EcoSport, the SUV that changed the fortunes of US auto major Ford in Indian market is now available for purchase at the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) and Central Police Canteen (CPC) in India.

Serving personnel and ex-servicemen will be able to book EcoSport with exclusive benefits including priority delivery in addition to the usual tax exemption or discounts they get. Ford's other vehicles like Classic, Figo and Endeavour are already available at these stores and the EcoSport, the sub–four meter SUV is the latest one to join.

Launched in June 2013, Ford EcoSport has been getting tremendous response from auto lovers across the world. The SUV has already crossed  sales of over 1 lakh units in domestic as well as export markets.

The EcoSport comes with 1.5L petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.0L EcoBoost engine under the hood. The 1.5L petrol engine gives 112 PS power and 140 Nm torque. The revolutionary EcoBoost EcoSport engine churns out a power of 125 PS and 170 Nm torque, along with a mileage of 18.9 kmpl.

The diesel variant of EcoSport is the most fuel efficient among all models, delivering a mileage of 22.7 kmpl, which can churn out a power of 89 bhp and 204 Nm torque. Recently, the company has started offering EcoSport with the LED Daytime Running Lights.

In another development, a new prototype of Ford EcoSport was seen undergoing testing; interestingly the test mule did not have the door-mounted spare wheel. The latest buzz on the Internet is that Ford is likely to introduce facelift for EcoSport and chances are that the new EcoSport avatar could do away with the door-mounted spare wheel.
