Fans have been queueing up outside three cinemas in Los Angeles to witness the worldwide premiere of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" on Monday, 14 December.

The three theatres where the premiere will take place are the TCL Chinese Theatre, the Dolby Theatre — home of the Oscars — and the El Capitan Theatre. All the major cast members of Episode 7 are expected to walk the red carpet on Hollywood Boulevard, including John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Gwendoline Christie.

Fans have been camping around the theatres for days. They have been told to spend at least 24 hours before they can expect to buy a ticket. And if they want a second ticket, they will have to wait for another 24 hours.

Among the most speculated facts regarding the movie, a number of fans believe the major reason Luke Skywalker is not in any of the trailers released so far is because he is the primary villain in the film, Kylo Ren.
