Force Motors has confirmed that the company will commence the delivery of its off-roader Force Gurkha from September 2014.
Unveiled at the SIAM International Bus and Utility Show back in February, Force Gurkha comes in two variants - one with soft top and the second with factory-fitted hard top. The Force's new Extreme off-roader is powered by the same 2.6 litre Mercedes OM 616 turbo charged intercooled engine which is tuned to churn out a power of 85 bhp at 3,200 rpm and a peak torque of 230 Nm at 1,800-2,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission that sends power to all four wheels and the vehicle comes equipped with differential locks on both front and rear axles.
The Gurkha will be available in three new attractive colours and will come with warranty of 3 year or 3,00,000 km. The car houses crawler feature which would help the vehicle to climb up steep gradients without stepping on the accelerator. Talking of the prices of the Force Gurkha, it carries a price tag of ₹6.25 lakh for the soft top and ₹8.25 lakh for the hard top (ex-showroom Delhi). The vehicle will be open for booking and test drive from September and will be sold through the company's Personal Vehicles Dealerships.
"The feedback received from auto experts and select group of users during test drives has helped us further fine tune the Force Gurkha into an extremely capable off Roader," Auto Economic Times quoted Force Motors Managing Director, Prasan Firodia.
Last week, Force Motors launched Force One's LX variant in India with a price tag of ₹13.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Force One LX, the SUV with a four-wheel-drive system uses BSIV compliant Mercedes-Benz four-pot 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which does the duty on the SX variant. The engine is capable of generating 139 bhp of power and 321 Nm of torque and comes mated to five-speed manual transmission with Synchromesh with Dual Mass Flywheel. It comes loaded with the features like projector headlamps with DRLs, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth and leather upholstery.
